THE POWER OF THE GOSPEL

Picture-blog-gospel

This morning, I started reading through the book of Romans and I was reminded of the simple but powerful message of the Gospel. Sometimes we do get familiar with the same message of the Cross and the Resurrection, but therein lies the power of God for salvation and the hope for the nations. In the Gospel, we find mercy, forgiveness and reconciliation with God. In it we have our adoption as children of God, transformed in Christ from a life of sin to one of godliness. By this transformation, rampant sin in society is cleansed one person at a time. Imagine if a local burglar came to faith through the Gospel. That is one less person robbing houses or stores, and one less family having to deal with trauma and hurt. Ultimately, the advancement of the Gospel has in it the power to transform our world and make it a bit like Heaven. Imagine what a biblical Christian world will be like. A world where there is no war or terrorism; a world of compassion, honesty, brotherly love (etc.) and above all, a world where God is honoured and reverenced. It is with regard to this truth that the Apostle said, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek” (Romans 1:16).

The Gospel has the answer to the world’s questions; and you and I have been entrusted with this message. Let us be encouraged to share this Good News with the people around us. The transformation may happen one person at a time, and we may not see its full effects but it has hope for the next generation and also for eternity.

Be encouraged,
