Our daily lives are full of many choices and decisions we all have to make. Our choices are shaped by what we consider to be true (morally right) as well as the benefits we are to gain or the consequences we want to avoid by those choices. As we weigh up the outcome, we make our daily decisions to go to work rather than lay in bed, to give to the poor and needy, to live a life of integrity and love, even down to the choice of brushing our teeth or having a shower. Everything we do aside from that which is fixed by nature is by choice. But where do you stand in your choice of a spiritual life today? Are you whole heartedly for Jesus? Do you perhaps like the idea of Christian principles but not the entire commitment to it? There comes a time where being half-hearted will not suffice for spiritual growth and our relationship with the Lord; either the Lord is our lot or not. When faced with this choice, Joshua said to the people of Israel;
“And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the LORD, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. BUT AS FOR ME AND MY HOUSE, WE WILL SERVE THE LORD.” (Joshua 24:15)
Today, in spite of where you may find yourself in life, may your choice be as resolute as Joshua’s. Determine it in your mind that the Lord is your portion, be committed to serving Him and walking in His ways. He who has called you is faithful; He is more than able to make a way where there seem to be no way. Just trust in his love.
