Out of the mouth of babes

Out of the mouth of babes

We are blessed in our church to have a number of young people and babies.  A well known expression is “out of the mouth of babes” when a child or young person says something that is wise or profound…cutting through the complexity of adult life.

In Psalm 8:2 it says this: “Through the praise of children and infants you have established a stronghold against your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger.”

I witnessed an example of this last week.  I was involved in the commissioning service for a new church infants school in Witney.  There were many senior representatives present from the local community including the Mayor and the local Vicar.  One of the invited speakers said to the children on the floor “well children, God needs our help to do His work”.  Then a clear voice popped up from a little boy on the front row “No He don’t”, he said, “He can do on his own if He wants to”.  The Vicar and I descended into fits of laughter as the little boy was exactly theologically correct.  The wonderful thing is that God is in total control.  We are blessed with the amazing gift and privilege that our Heavenly Father “calls us” to be involved in the great work of sharing the Good News.  Isn’t that wonderful.

I pray that you and your loved ones are well and look forward to seeing many of you at Church on Sunday.
God bless and much love from David
