The big tea party:
On Sunday after the church service we will be holding a Great Big Tea Party and enjoying some sandwiches and cake. It is a simple and fun way to raise vital support for the persecuted church. This year’s Great Big Tea Parties will be popping up all around the UK and Ireland to celebrate the faith of persecuted Christians who live in the ten countries around the world where faith costs the most.
In the New Testament we reach much about the persecuted church:
Acts 12:”About that time Herod the king laid violent hands on some who belonged to the church. He killed James the brother of John with the sword, and when he saw that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded to arrest Peter also. This was during the days of Unleavened Bread. And when he had seized him, he put him in prison, delivering him over to four squads of soldiers to guard him, intending after the Passover to bring him out to the people. So Peter was kept in prison, but earnest prayer for him was made to God by the church”
On Sunday we will have an opportunity to pray for the 10 countries where there is the highest level of persecution against Christians. As we thank God for our freedom to worship then let us remember those who do not have this freedom.
Dear heavenly father, thank you for the freedom that we enjoy in the UK. As we share at the big tea party this weekend help us to continue to hold in prayer those who face persecution for the Christian faith. We pray also for their families that you will bless them and protect them. In the name of Jesus we ask this. AMEN
God bless and much love from
